Disinsection of silos, warehouses, mills and production premises

Disinsection of silos, warehouses, mills and production premises. The disinsection of empty warehouses, silos, mills and processing plants is carried out by wet, aerosol or gas method. The disinsection methodology is based on a wide range of insecticides with different formulations /emulsion concentrates, suspension concentrates, microemulsions, microcapsules, water-wettable powders/, which guarantee fast action and long residual effect. All used disinsection preparations are registered and authorized for use in the Republic of Bulgaria and the EU.

During disinsection, insecticides are applied using modern equipment: cold aerosol atomizers, warm aerosol generators, high-pressure pumps, motorized ULV atomizers, motorized sprayers with an aerosol speed of 100 – 120 m/sec. Mineral oils and diesel fuel are used as solvents when performing quality disinfestation of some preparations.

Selection of preparations

When performing quality disinfestation, one of the most important things is the selection of preparations. The type of formulation of the disinfestation preparation is carried out depending on the characteristics of each site. Combinations of insecticides are used for disinfestation, selected depending on the specifics of each site, applied at least two treatments using different methods of work.

Disinfestation with preparations with a provocative effect.

Disinfestation with preparations with a provocative effect aims to provoke insects to leave their hiding places in order to achieve greater efficiency from subsequent treatments. The preparations used for disinfestation with a provocative effect are slightly toxic, with an average period of after-effect. When used alone for disinfestation, partial control over pests is observed, slow death of insects for a certain period of after-effect. Depending on the sealing of the object for disinfestation, both cold and warm aerosols are applied or disinfestation is carried out by spraying. For solvents, water, oils, adhesives, diesel fuel are used.

Disinfestation with preparations with a very fast initial effect.

These are preparations with a strongly pronounced fumigating effect. The used preparations for disinfestation with a very fast initial effect are highly toxic even for warm-blooded ones, they destroy adult insects and their larvae, but they decompose within 2-5 days after disinfestation to absolutely harmless compounds. Used alone after 48 hours of exposure, an excellent effect is observed, but after 7-14 days eggs hatch, pupae appear and there is no toxic substance that can destroy them. In disinfestation, depending on the sealing of the object, it is applied as a cold, warm aerosol or by spraying. For solvents, water, oils, adhesives, diesel fuel are used.

Disinsection with preparations with a long after-effect period

Disinsection with preparations with a long after-effect period, which destroy both newly hatched and imaginal insects, and insects that have entered from the outside. These are preparations harmless to warm-blooded animals, but with a stable formulation guaranteeing control over pests for a long period of time with which a quality disinsection can be guaranteed. Full treatment with preparations with a long after-effect is applied in the disinsection of mills, feed plants and other production premises. This treatment, which is part of good disinsection, is not applicable on its own due to the weak initial effect. Due to the high price of this type of preparation, full treatment of grain and grain product warehouses is economically unprofitable. Potential insect hiding places are disinsectioned at such sites. It is applied by spraying. The solvents used are water and adhesives.

Disinsection of warehouses and adjacent areas

Disinsection of poorly cleaned silos, warehouses, mills, feed plants and other production premises. In addition to the above-described treatments, fumigation is also performed. The combination of disinsection and fumigation guarantees the destruction of adult insects, larvae, eggs and pupae for a long period.

Disinsection of adjacent areas aims to destroy insects located or hiding outside the disinfested objects. Contact-action preparations are used. In the presence of cultivated plants, fruit trees and arable areas, appropriate insecticides are used. Disinsection is carried out using a high-pressure membrane pump and motor sprayers. Solvent for the preparations – water. An adhesive is used.
To achieve a good effect of disinsection, it is necessary to carry out preparatory measures.

Disinsection of empty silos and warehouses is carried out no later than 15-30 days before filling them. Production premises are disinfested in spring, autumn and when an increase in the insect population is detected.

Disinfestation against ticks, ants, cockroaches, flies, etc.

The treatment methodology depends on the specifics of the site, the population and the type of pests: as a rule, quality disinfestation includes the sequential use of several preparations depending on the places of settlement. There are preparations with different effects and applications – some have a very good initial effect with a pronounced fumigating effect, others have a longer effect, with the initial effect being weakly expressed. There are different formulations depending on their application.

For the effectiveness of the disinfestation carried out, the most important thing is to carry out periodic maintenance (preventive) treatments. There is never a guarantee that the pests will not settle again. They are transported with delivered goods to stores and restaurants, with carried luggage, through sewers, through streets and sidewalks between neighboring blocks, along the facade of the block between neighbors through bags, passing through all kinds of openings to search for new territories and food.
